Chrome Extension · Last updated: May 2026
!blank-tab ("the Extension") is a Chrome browser extension that replaces your New Tab page with a customizable bookmark manager. This policy explains what data the Extension accesses, how it is used, and what is shared with third parties.
We do not collect, store, or transmit any personal data to our own servers. The Extension operates entirely on your local device.
Chrome Bookmarks The Extension reads your Chrome bookmarks to display them in the New Tab page. It can also create, move, rename, and delete bookmarks on your behalf when you perform those actions in the UI. This data never leaves your device and is not transmitted to any server.
Local Storage The Extension stores the following preferences locally on your device:
This data is stored in chrome.storage.sync (Quick Links) and localStorage (other preferences). It is not shared with any third party.
Google Favicon Service When the "Show Favicons" option is enabled, the Extension requests website icons from Google's favicon service at https://www.google.com/s2/favicons. Only the domain name of each bookmarked URL is transmitted (e.g., github.com) — no full URLs, no personal information, no user identifiers. This service is operated by Google LLC and subject to Google's Privacy Policy.
Google Fonts The Extension loads typefaces (IBM Plex Mono, Bricolage Grotesque) from Google Fonts. This causes your browser to make a request to Google's servers, which may log your IP address. This is subject to Google's Privacy Policy.
Background Images If you set a custom background image using an external URL, your browser will load that image from the provided URL. The Extension does not control or process this request beyond passing the URL you entered to the browser's standard image loading mechanism.
